Manager for the Care
Delivery EMPCO and Care Delivery Provider & Network Portfolios,
managing a
matrixed team of 4-6 Portfolio Release Analysts (PRA) and 1 Senior PRA.
The
Care Delivery Portfolios consist of 12 products each with multiple
applications
of which
all are supported by my release management team.
Worked with the IT Product Managers to

for 3 billing systems with $4.6 billion in annual revenue for a
Telecommunications company. Billing systems had worldwide users
(15,000+) and were located throughout the country.
- Managed
development teams with multiple project leads and 50+ domestic (local
& remote) and offshore employees and contractors. Functional roles
spanned the entire spectrum of the Software Development Life Cycle
(SDLC).
- Implemented 10-20 releases per year,
while also accommodating
several strategic standalone and emergency mandated programs each year.
- SOX COMPLIANCE AND REMEDIATION CONTROLS
- System point
of contact and lead with 3 external audit firms and the internal audit
team for all Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audits, initiatives, and remediation
controls
- F&E
MIGRATION - This project was part of the corporate initiative to
consolidate duplicate systems, streamline processing, and significantly
reduce operating costs. My team owned this project and was responsible
for the overall project success.
- Managed
the migration of the billing and receivables for wholesale and
commercial customers from a single system to two separate systems
- Migration consisted of approximately
10,000 customers, 525,000 circuits, and 250,000 charge records totaling
$1.3 billion
- Responsible for 10+ IT teams and 15-20
user groups were involved in the migration
- Managed the reformatting of hundreds of
thousands of data records to meet the requirements of multiple systems
- Coordinate and sync billing cycles and
dates on multiple systems to ensure revenue was not lost
- DATA
CENTER OUTAGE – The Maryland data center had a major electrical outage
and all systems (several mainframes, mid-ranges, and servers) went
down. The system my team was responsible for quickly became the point
of focus since a $250M dollar billing run had just started at the time
of the outage.
- Immediately notified management of outage
(both IT & User Management)
- Communicated status & progress to the
CIO, Presidents, and VP’s during the event
- Worked with the operations staff to
restore normal system operations
- Upon system restoration, verified the
remaining billing steps ran correctly with appropriate user groups
- The $250M billing run was completed with
less than a 12 hour delay
- WISC
TO EDS MIGRATION - This project was scoped at 18-24 months and was
completed in 9 months. The change in mainframe operations resulted in a
$500,000 annual savings.
- Transferred mainframe operations from
Tulsa, OK to Perryman, MD
- Changed system operations from WISC, an
IT outsourcing company, to EDS
- MCI/WORLDCOM
BANKRUPTCY - Project was a result of corporate bankruptcy. As the
manager of a development team for corporate financial systems, the
responsibility was to provide all information requested by multiple
internal and external audit teams. The company successfully emerged
from bankruptcy and was bought by Verizon.
- Worked with Senior VP’s in communicating
progress and status
- Completed and passed 25-30 separate audits
- Wrote the request for additional staffing
to the federal bankruptcy court monitor and received approval
- RESOURCE
CENTER - This effort established a corporate resource center to pool
resources for use by all IT teams. Managed the first system to utilize
the new resource center and worked
with resource center management to establish policies & procedures.
- OFFSHORE TEAM - Hired
and trained an offshore based development team. The establishment of
the offshore development team reduced development costs by
approximately 75%.
- ARCHITECTURAL
STRATEGY - Worked with the Enterprise Architecture team, in a
SharePoint environment, to develop the future IT strategies and
corporate direction.
